A Magical Stay Amidst the Vineyards of Italy

My recent stay at a breathtaking boutique hotel in Italy was nothing short of MAGICAL. Locanda Palazzone lies in the city of Umbria, just an hour and a half south of Tuscany. This magical oasis has only seven rooms, so it felt more like a private castle stay all to ourselves. Because the hotel is so small and intimate, we became very close with all the staff. They treated us like family and were constantly offering us any recommendations they had for first timers in the town.

The hotel has a vineyard attached to it so one of the activities we did was learn about the history of the wines they had and of course, did a tasting or two. In addition to the vineyard, the hotel offers breakfast, lunch and dinner served on their outdoor patio which overlooks an unbelievably beautiful view of the lush, green hillsides. Between the vineyard, the restaurant and the HUGE pool (the best spot to be when the sun sets every night), the hotel makes it very easy to not want to leave the property.

Although very enticing, we did end up leaving the hotel a few times to check out more of the city. One morning, we drove into the city of Orvieto, which is another quaint, intimate town where you can eat at some local restaurants, do some shopping or just walk the streets. Later in the day, we took a drive to the famous Tuscany tree-lined streets (it was a bucket list thing for me so I couldn’t miss out on the photo-opp when I was THAT close to it). Both outings were well worth the time spent away from our magical private castle and things I would recommend to anyone visiting!
